Average review score:

One of the Best Books I've Ever Read--Really!
I have read this book AT LEAST three times, and I often wish that Catton had written more books like this. It gives a great history lesson, while keeping the reader enchanted by the beautiful prose and plot. This book is definately worth the wait!

Banners at Shenandoah: the Greatest of Civil War Novels
Banners at Shenandoah is a classic example of Bruce Catton's award winning writing style. His vivid descriptions of scenes from the book are incredible. Its an action packed novel about a young man becoming an adult, and is forced do it through some of the most hottly contested battles of the Civil War. Everyone should read this book.

Bittersweet Surrender
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Avid Press, LLC (01 May, 2001)
Author: Barbara Sheridan
Average review score:

Perfect title
I couldn't put this book down. I couldn't leave the characters long enough to do the dailies. What chemistry there is between these two powerful characters, Star and Jake. It was history packed, well-written, and NEVER a dull moment! There was always something going on and there was never a breather! Whew! Best yet Barbie!

YOU MUST BUY THIS BOOK!!!!
Star McNamera and Jason Hillhouse have been enemies since childhood. Both are intelligent and independant, and both have strong political ties to their people. The journey that tears them apart and brings them together is a fascinating one, and I cannot recommend this book enough! AN ABSOLUTE PAGE TURNER! Buy 2 copies because you'll wear the first one out!

Another BRILLIANT work by Ms. Sheridan. Bittersweet Surrender is the prequel to her riveting "Timeless Wish" and one looks forward to many more stories in the Hillhouse series.

Unlike Ms. Sheridan's Timeless Wish, Bittersweet Surrender doesn't have any paranormal threads in it. It is, instead, a rich, realistic, complex romantic adventure, full of action, danger, passion, and intelligence.

Ms. Sheridan writes for today's "romance" reader: The professional, smart, independant reader who enjoys being challenged while simultaneously being swept away. Nary a bon bon eating housewife, nor a bodice-ripping victim will be found.

Reading this marvelous book after wearing out my copy of Timeless Wish, it was comforting to revisit favorite old characters. Reading her books is like visiting a favorite place--it's thrilling while you're there, and sad when it's time to leave.

As always, I applaud Ms. Sheridan and look forward to her future books. She has a bright career ahead of her. All who stumble upon her works are in for years of fun and suprises.

Here's to you Jason, Star, Corby, Laura, and the entire Hillhouse clan.

Connection Complete
Published in Paperback by CeShore Publishing Company (01 December, 1999)
Authors: Marcia Sheridan and Mark Sheridan
Average review score:

This book has changed aspect of my life!
This book is a great inspiration on how to lead a healthy life. The author speaks from the deepest recess of her soul, urging her readers to change all those nasty habits that are crippling so many of us living in so called developed nations.

The author has travelled the journey leading her into total despair from the decadence of plenty and back into a complete connection to healthy happy lfe.

A must read for all those looking for inspiration to change their life for the better. It has already change aspects of my life. I am sure it will do the same for you.

Marcia's word needs to get out
Marcia's message is needed for all women in today's world. Her thoughts and feelings are passionately expressed and will touch all who pick up her "Connection Complete". A book from a writer who's own personal experiences fills the reader with good common sense on connecting with the spritual soul to meet today's challenges. I recommend after reading "Connection Complete" to pass it onto others so they may share in this gifted, needed message.

Crossing over: Liberating the Transgendered Christian
Published in Paperback by Pilgrim Pr (October, 2001)
Authors: Vanessa Sheridan and James B. Nelson
Average review score:

A Timely Blessing
If you or a loved one is transgendered and you have felt in conflict with your Christian faith, help and enlightenment are finally here. Being transgendered and a Christian do not have to be in conflict. As a transgendered Christian, I wish this book had been written years ago. It provides biblically based information to educate those who are transgendered and those who are open to the truth. Churches that are open and affirming to all Christians would do well to include this in their library and to also circulate it amongst both clergy and lay leaders. The book offers many practical ways that Church communities can embrace our little known group.

A must read for those in and supportive of the TG commuinty
Vanessa Sheridan has successfully tackled a very challenging topic that effects more of the population than most people realize. Being transgendered or gender variant is challenging enough in a society that has not yet begun to understand, much less accept, this fringe group. Now add to that equation being Christian and you have an appreciation for the difficult subject matter of Sheridan's book.

She does a good job of educating the reader who knows little about the transgender community, but her primary focus is to provide guidance to Christians on how to accept and welcome the gender variant into their faith community. She helps her readers to understand that acceptance versus persecution of transgender Christians is biblically rooted and consistent with the teachings of Jesus. Sheridan finishes her work with several suggestions on how to open a dialogue within the church family to address the needs of the gender variant. I would highly recommend this book to clergy and church administrators along with transgendered Christians who have felt alienated by their religious experiences.

Dirk Bogarde: Rank Outsider
Published in Hardcover by Chivers Press Ltd (01 January, 1998)
Author: Sheridan Morley
Average review score:

Wonderful Pictures Highlight This Bogarde Book
A stunning look at one of the great talents of the 20th century. This is the same man of The Servant, Death in Venice, Darling, The Damned, the man, that face, that voice. The photos tell the entire story of this man who had an impact on film and cinema history not soon forgotten. This book is a Bogarde fans dream come true.

This was just I was looking for years
It's often hard to find books about real actors, well I have to say also author since Dirk Bogarde was not only an effective and surprising actor, but also author of very steemed books. In this book, I could find very nice pictures taken through his whole life and also a lot of information that matched perfectly with the ones in his autobiography.

A really great masterpiece not only for the Bogarde fans, but also for anyone who is interested to see and reas a multitalented human being.

Highly recommended.

Glory Enough for All : Sheridan's Second Raid and the Battle of Trevilian Station
Published in Hardcover by Brasseys, Inc. (01 June, 2001)
Author: Eric J. Wittenberg
Average review score:

IT IS ABOUT TIME
It is about time that a true scholarly description of this long neglected but fascinating battle has been written. It destroys quite a number of myths! Sheridan was not invincible. The Confederate Cavalry did not die at Yellow Tavern with J.E.B. Stuart (it died at Appomattox with the rest of the ANVa). That Wade Hampton was a capable and perhaps more suitable cavalry commander for that period of the war. I bet that with even numbers that Hampton would have trounced Sheridan. As it was, outnumbered he stopped Sheridan cold and hurt him bad.

The battle is exciting, complex and had Hampton had just a little more strength Sheridan would have been in bad trouble; as it was he was hard pressed to claim any real results.

It is also hoped that this draws more attention to the preservation of this battlefield, which is in pretty good shape- but the bull dozers will come eventually.

This is a book for learning Civil War personalities, style of command, how cavalry fought in the civil war and documents this battle superbly. Well done and well worth the price od admission. I'll be on the outlook for more by Messr Wittenburg.

Outstanding Coverage of Trevillian Station Fight
Phil Sheridan's battle against the Confederates at Trevillian Station is covered in 391 pages with maps, photos, orders of battle, statistics on loses, an excellent bibliography, and index. Author Eric Wittenberg has done an outstanding job of narration, explanation, and interpretation of the battle. (Wittenberg's knowledge of the Union cavalry adds to the book immensely, as does his keen appreciation of the landscape.) This text is a treat for Civil War buffs and would be a great addition to the library of descendants of those on both sides who were participants.

LA Vida Nortena: Photographs of Sonora, Mexico
Published in Paperback by University of New Mexico Press (February, 1998)
Authors: David L. Burckhalter, Thomas E. Sheridan, and Gary Paul Nabhan
Average review score:

Wow.
This book is incredible -- an honest and sensitive portrait of life in the changing Sonoran desert. I picked it up yesterday and haven't been able to stop looking at it since. Apart from the photography, there are two wonderful essays. In the second, "Another Country", Thomas E. Sheridan tells of falling in love with a place in a way that speaks intimately to my own experience of and passion for Mexico. But I'd better stop before I give a whole dissertation... Buy this book! You won't regret it.

Award Winning Photographs of People of Sonora, Mexico
Superb black and white photographs, with accompanying essays, concentrate on ordinary people. The result transcends its geographic region; this is about people who just happen to live in Sonora. Winner, Border Regional Library Association's 1998 Southwest Book Award.

Little Turtle and the Song of the Sea
Published in Paperback by Magi Publications (31 January, 2001)
Authors: Sheridan Cain and Norma Burgin
Average review score:

Hooray for Little Turtle!
It's funny that I read here the recommended age group for this book is 4-8. My 23 mo. old son just adores this book. I came across it at the library. He is mesmerized by it. He eyes become wide & he almost holds his breath when the seagull swoops down on the turtle. Then, on the last page when the turtle is finally swimming in the sea, you'd think he was the one who finally made it to the sea! He turns and looks at me w/a huge smile on his face, so incredibly happy for that turtle!

Sheridan's Song of the Sea will stay in your heart!
Sheridans beautiful word music will sing in your heart and your soul.

Little Turtle struggles to break free from his shell, but that is just the beginning of his perilous journey to the sea. He encounters the dangers of sand, barriers, preditors and exhaustion, but the Song of the Sea encourages him and helps him along the way.

I promise, this book has it all: tenderness, pathos, danger and triumph of the spirit. The illustrations are beautifully done and so real, my daughter keeps touching them.

My daughter LOVES this story and asked for it to be read at least 5 times the day we got it. She loves the "scary crab" character.

You won't be disappointed in Little Turtle and the Song of the Sea!
